'September' live on NPO1

On Sunday evening Hendrik-Jan, Bas van de Looy and Martijn played a modest but soulful version of 'September' live on national radio for the NPO1-program 'Dit is de Dag'. The other guests were Roderick Vonhögen (aka "The Media Priest") and Bert Jan Lietaert Peerbolte. Listen to the song (and a short interview before it) here.

We had a great weekend anyway... After an enjoyable acoustic/stripped-down performance at Vondelpark3 in Amsterdam on Friday we really loved to play all-out on Saturday night with our friends Alamo Race Track in De Schuit in Katwijk.

We are looking forward to our November shows!

More in-store shows, Vondelpark Live

Our releasetour is in full swing by now. We are enjoying the enthousiastic responses we've gotten so far and hope to meet more fans at our oncoming gigs. We also performed live for several radio stations to promote our album. While most of these performances are acoustic we were stoked to perform live on the air with the full band for Tros Muziekcafe on Dutch national radio (Radio 2). Also one of our songs had it's brief but significant national TV-debut last Sunday: a fragment of 'Heartbreak' was playing in the background on NPO3's 'BNN 3 op Reis' travelling program, adding some jangle and harmony vocals to co-host Chris Zegers' travels around Asturia, Spain.

As if we weren't busy enough we managed to add a few in-store performances to our roster. This Saturday, October 23rd,  we'll perform at Kroese in Arnhem and Sounds in Venlo in the afternoon. On Sunday November 29th we'll perform at the Plato stores in Deventer and Apeldoorn. We've also added some shows for Februari and March 2016 so keep a close eye on our tour agenda!

Then there's a last-minute acoustic gig added to our roster we'd like to mention: On Friday October 30th we'll play at Vondelpark 3 in Amsterdam early in the evening. If you are around have a drink with us!

The 'Bang the Drum' album has been released!

On Saturday we celebrated the release of the 'Bang the Drum' album in a nice venue called EKKO in our hometown Utrecht. It was a great experience to play the album front-to-back to our fans, family and friends. We'd like to thank everyone at EKKO, our audience and the many people who provided technical support for making this evening so succesful and rather special!

Royal Parks opened for us with his great songs and had some great pedalsteel support by Jan-Paul de Bondt on the Little Feet cover 'Willing'. Jan-Paul also played pedalsteel on our album and joined us on stage for some songs. We got a very funny introduction by poet Ingmar Heytze, who wrote our Dutch biography. We already got some glowing reviews of our show here, here and here.

'Bang the Drum' is now for sale through several vendors in the Netherlands and is also distributed in the USA (Kool Kat Musik) and Japan (This Time Records). For other regions we are happy to offer streaming, digital downloads and CD's or vinyl copies of both our albums shipped worldwide through our new and improved Bandcamp page. For more about buying our album please check out the 'Music' page of this site.

In the next months we'll be playing a lot of live shows to support and introduce our album. We hope to meet you at one of our gigs!

Four Stars and 8/10: album reviews are coming in!

Several Dutch magazines reviewed our album already: Music Maker Magazine awarded us with 4/5 stars, as did Lust for Life. The Strutter blog rated the album at 8.2/10 in this (written in English) review, while PlatoMania went for a straight eight. We are grateful and happy people seem to like our album.

We are also happy to report that The Maureens will feature on some live radio broadcasts, both local and national. We'll keep you posted!

Last but not least we were given 'Album of the Month' status by Thistime, our Japanese distributor. Thanks!
