First of all we wish you all the best for the new year!
We are pleased to announce five try-out shows for january 2017. We will perform a lot of new songs at these gigs. A great chance to listen to what we have been up to the past 6 months and to see our new bass player Wouter with us on stage! We hope to see you there.
It’s been awfully quiet here for some time so let’s bring you all up to speed about what’s going on.
We had a great spring tour with many nice gigs that ended in June with a performance at the beautiful open air ‘Bostheater’ in the midst of a forest. Apart from the audience it felt like the entire mosquito population of the Netherlands had showed up for supper, which made it a rather interesting experience. This gig was also remarkable and somewhat special because it was the last one for three of our bandmembers: Bas van de Looy, Bas van de Waterbeemd and Randy Linskens decided to leave the Maureens. We’d like to thank them for all the good times we had and wish them all the best with their future musical endeavours.
This didn’t mean the ending for the Maureens 'though, on the contrary. We, the remaining three members (Hendrik-Jan, Martijn and Stefan) immdediately started to write, demo and rehearse a lot of new songs. We also met Wouter, a great bassplayer with a nice voice, who completed our line-up again. We aim to present our new songs (and Wouter) live with a few try-out gigs early 2017.
There’s also a reason for celebration: our ‘Bang the Drum’-album came out exactly a year ago so this month we are offering the full album as a download through Bandcamp for only eur 2.49! If you’d like to use this offer you can use the actioncode ‘hoera1jaarbtd’ to get a 75% discount on the usual amount. Or, visit our Facebook page and let us know what your favorite song is and you might just win one of the free downloads we are distributing during September.
We’ll be back soon with more!
The second half of our release tour started out great! We enjoyed the shows in Nijmegen, Amersfoort and the one we played last Friday at the beautiful room of Groothuis / Apollo in Emmen. You can find a 3v12 Drenthe review for this show here and a review from Woest en Ledig Blog here [both are in Dutch alas].
We'd like to inform you about some changes in our tour calendar: Our show in Leiden was planned to take place at the Gebr. Nobel venue but has been relocated at Q-Bus. Our supportact for that show is Glossy Jesus. The sold-out Mudboat Session on March 5th has been moved to furniture and antique store "Vivre Interieur Authentique" at Stationsweg 19, Nijmegen. We share a double bill with the band Point Quiet that night.
In the next few days we'll visit Gouda, Arnhem and Venlo. We'll see you soon!
First of all best wishes for 2016! We are currently busy working on a few new songs but first of all we are pleased to present you our upcoming shows for 2016 in the Netherlands, starting tonight at the ES/NS Festival in Groningen. We hope to meet you again soon!
A shared love for melodic and uplifting guitar-driven pop music brought the members of The Maureens together. The Maureens debuted in 2013 with a selftitled album that contained a distinct mixture of sixties nostalgia and nineties era indiepop. Sounds from The Beach Boys, The Posi
